Summary
Power is the rate of doing work, or the ratio of energy per time. It is the energy transferred at any given instant, an instantaneous quantity. The SI unity of power is joules per second (J/s), commonly called the watt (W).
Lithium-ion batteries produce electric power by movement between the positive terminal (cathode), and negative terminal (anode). When a battery is connected to a device, movement of lithium ions in the cell electrolyte causes an energy flow out of its negative terminal.
