Prismatic Battery

The lithium-ion prismatic battery is popular in both small format and large. The former is most commonly seen as a cell phone battery, tablet battery, or in other light-weight electronic devices. Large prismatic batteries can power electric vehicles, store energy for buildings, for military, commercial, or other purposes.

Smaller prismatic cells are favored for their thin profile and a hard exterior which makes them space efficient and consumer-friendly. Large prismatic cells can be scaled up easily, with a modular nature that lends simplicity to high energy prismatic battery packs.

The prismatic battery differs from the lithium-polymer battery namely in its hard exterior. Prismatic batteries are generally not as heat tolerant as their cylindrical counterparts like the 18650 battery or 21700 battery.
